Her Own Story of Recovery
In 2003 I had a recurrence of a cancer called Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After my first round of chemotherapy, I had lost 16 pounds, my hair fell out, my mouth was as dry as a desert, and I had difficulty swallowing. As I faced more chemotherapy, I decided to try hypnosis to control the side effects of treatment. After 45 minutes of hypnosis, I was amazed as the nausea disappeared and I found myself hungry. I followed each chemotherapy session with a visit to my hypnotherapist. I was able to withstand the therapy I needed while virtually eliminating most of the nausea and actually gaining back the weight I had lost! I learned the power of thought. You can’t be hungry and nauseous at the same time. For the next six months, I went for hypnosis two to three times a week to strengthen the positive thought about hunger. I was so impressed with the personal power and control it gave me over the effects of the medication that I became a certified hypnotherapist in order to help others as I had been helped.
