Janet Crain, the Relationship Expert

The Chain of Events that led Dr. Crain Here

Dr. Crain believes we can navigate our relationships in a less emotional way when we look at them through the metaphor of shopping. If you need a light bulb you go to the local hardware store, it is highly unlikely that you would shop for a light bulb at the dry cleaners. If you want to get married and are dating a married man or a confirmed bachelor, you need to see that neither relationship can satisfy your needs. Likewise, if you go to buy a piece of jewelry and the store is closed or the store is too expensive, that store cannot help you either. In the metaphoric shopping mall of our lives, each store is a symbol for our relationships. Essentially, the fact remains if we are shopping in the wrong store we are not going to get the items we need.

A few years ago Dr. Crain wrote a book titled, “If You Want an Egg Roll, Get out of the Pizzeria.” With the belief that relationships are a critical component of wellbeing, she set out to give readers a chance to reflect and strengthen their relationships with self, health, wealth, career, and others. In the course of those pages, she recalls many life examples and lessons that teach readers to navigate their relationships with intention, mindfulness, and reason.

Are you a Shopping Diva?

Imagine how your life might be if you applied your well-honed shopping skills to everything you need in life – finding the perfect mate, discovering your dream career, making money, enjoying friendships, and nourishing your spiritual and physical health. Figuring out your shopping list is a tough feat, but once you know what you are seeking finding a course and sticking to it can be tough too. Dr. Crain shows readers how to manage the unexpected obstacles like flashy showcases (a smooth talker), blow-out sales (a job offer that seems to good to be true), or impulses to purchase when you’re over-budget (dating a man you think is married). She prepares readers to make purchases and/or walk away when it is wise too.

Hydration for the Mind and Body
When it comes to nourishing our bodies with water, we are advised to drink about half our body weight in ounces daily. The water we drink is the back bone for our body’s ability to function and achieve peak performance. Yet, troubling enough, dry mouth, a symptom often associated with the start of thirst, is actually the beginnings of mild dehydration. In order to maintain our optimal intake, we should drink water when we wake, before we eat, after we eat, at intervals throughout the day, and before bed. Proper hydration requires healthy habits affects every organ in our body, including the brain…Click HERE to read more of Dr. Crain’s latest blog

Changing Perspective
Thought, decision, and choice pass through our filter system of belief before they are expressed in the world. This means we are performing daily routines and responding to colleagues, spouses, friends, family, and others on autopilot much of the day. And though often more efficient, I recently caught myself feeling the effects of old modes of automatic thinking. Hypnotized by my reoccurring negative thoughts and limited perspective, I decided I needed to switch gears, replace the broken record in my mind, play something a little more upbeat, and find a more flexible outlook…Click HERE to read more of Dr. Crain’s latest blog
